The Rest

The 2 weeks after the last post were spent Chillin with Dani and the fam in and around Canaan.

We did some work like sanding the floor, building furniture, tilling soil, helping out with kid etc. Dani would bounce ideas off of us and work things out and we would cook and smoke spliffs of some locally grown shwag. It was great. Up each day early, going for hikes and swimming in the river, playing with their awesome dog chomsky, a yellow lab.

There were many gatherings with the other families in the nieghborhood whcich were always a good time with good food, music and spliffs. and All the kids were so entertaining.

There was the organic farmer from florida, roger and his english traveler wife emily and there 2 kids about 3, twins. tThey had the sickest fiver spot with giant bolders.

Lobo and his wife and kid shami who spoke a hybrid of english, spanish and portoguese.Had a great house right on the river, with a geodesic dome originally as the bedroom whcich got converted into a crash pad for the festivities.

WE went into town to the Ferria a couple times, which was a great big farmers market. Came to really like San Isidro.

But really the best part of of this place was the place itself. IT was seriously like being in the shire. rolling green hills with fogs and mists rolling through. epiphytes everywhere, fruit trees, orchids, tons of birds and butterflies

Where I left off

Puerto Viejo, just a lill bits North of Pananma on the Carribean side got some of the best culture ive seen in Costa Rica beacuse there are negros there and Negros got soul. They have a pretty wierd hybrid culture but the herb and the reggea flow as do the travelers.

We rented bikes for the week and cruised all over. Got pretty guared a bunch of nights and met a whole bunch of killa people including the blond dreaded blue eyed swede who worked recption for Jay. OH man.

Beware of the sheman whores

ended my post abruptly becuase someone wanted me to go smoke a J and then of course we got hungry and had to go to my favorite 24 hr san jose establishment.

Took a different route to check out the sheman whores who are usually pretty entertaining. There were tons of them more than ive ever seen before and they are all yelling and flashing us. We get to the corner where they are standing and they about 5 of them start grouping me and another 5 on yems. They go right for the balls one of gets a good shot that I feel in my stomach a little. I´´m tyring to protect my junk and keeps these things off of me but they just wont stop and I ended pushing one of them into the street which i initially felt a little bad about untill i realized shes A FUCkING MAN and that they pick pocketed 10 bucks from me.

Been too long

Its been over 2 weeks since I last posted and of course too has happened to recount.

After Monteverde we came back to San Jose and mellowed at Tranquillo for a bit before heading to the carribean side.

Puerto Viejo is the shit. Stayed at Rockin Jay's for week and loved every minute of it.

Hiked a pretty rugged trail to a HUGE waterfall today. Jumped off the rocks into a pool at the bottom it. Some girl was there with a digicam and i got her email so maybe ill be able to get a pic. Everyone has those things so i figure as long as i get emials which everyone travelin in into ill be able to get a reasonble album.

The trail to get to the falls went though some farmer family's land so we had pay 5 bucks. Happy to give my 5 bucks to the family but im still not sure how i feel about it.

Its raining now but will probobly stop shortly. We are going to get drunk and pass out early so we can catch the 6:30 out of here. Back to the beach beatch

just keeps getting better

yesterday took a 4-5 hour bus ride out of San Jose into the Northern Central Highlands aka Los Montanas to this liitle gringo village supported by the the national rain forest parks and related ecotorims ie canopy tours.

Went to a pretty cool little restuarant last night where a group of harvard public policy grad students happened to be dining as well which when combined with the shots of tequila on the house made for some good convo.

went out dancin afterwards to the only place in town where they played pretty good reggea and then salsa.

despite the party the night before we managed to drag oursleves out of bed by 8 to go hike the monteverde trails.

the air up there is so clean and sweet and intoxicating. and the jungle is so alive but so calming at the same time. We were even treated to the sight of a quetzal which is beautiful multicolored parrot
